About Our Business
The idea for Redtail Veterinary Services came about in May of 2007 when
a colleague of Dr. Korin Mediate said, “Schuylkill County could really use
a Large Animal Veterinarian.” As the way things go in the world, Dr.
Mediate moved later that same year to Schuylkill County to join
that same colleague at a small animal practice. Now, with a little more
time available she is able to offer some services to the horse and farm
owners in the area.
Dr. Mediate grew up in Western Pennsylvania with Great Danes and the
neighbor’s horses. She first moved to Eastern Pennsylvania to attend
Delaware Valley College earning her degree in Large Animal Science and
a minor in Equine studies. After graduation, she moved to the Harrisburg
area to work at a Standardbred horse farm where she prepared yearlings
for sale and foaled out close to 100 mares during the spring. Near the
end of that year, she was accepted into the Royal Veterinary College in
London, UK. She spent five years in London and traveling around
Europe to gain experience and the knowledge to become a Veterinarian.
In 2005, Dr. Mediate graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and
moved to South Carolina to accept her first job as a mixed animal
practitioner. She later moved back to Pennsylvania to be closer to her
family. After much personal debate, she decided to join a small animal
practice allowing her more free time, which has enabled her to start a
Large Animal Practice on the side.
